PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT, INSTRUCTOR & MANAGING DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

Lloyd R. Smith, Jr., a retired Air Force Colonel, has 25 years experience in Information Systems and 22 years in Disaster Recovery. As Director of Information Systems for the Oklahoma Air Logistics Center for five years, he and the Information Systems Staff were responsible for a disaster recovery operation when a 40 hour, 22 alarm fire threatened three critical operations centers and did $138 million dollars in damage to the logistics, maintenance, stock control and distribution facility. Lloyd also provided disaster recovery assistance to a client, on site after the Oklahoma City Federal Building Bombing, was involved in the devastating F5 tornado in Oklahoma City and assisted a large international corporation across from Long Island Sound with hundreds of personnel at “ground zero” in their human and emergency response immediately following the terrorist attack on the United States.

Colonel Smith, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD., has a Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Certified as a Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), he is an internationally recognized speaker and instructor and has become a leading advocate in corporate America and government for business/mission disaster prevention and recovery planning. He founded Business & Government Continuity Services, which provides business and government disaster recovery awareness and consulting services to include risk/vulnerability assessments, business impact analyses, business/mission continuity plan development, testing and training as well as business/government continuity plan mentoring and auditing.

Lloyd has been active in developing business continuity policies and standards while he served on the Disaster Recovery Institute International Certification Commission and the Disaster Recovery Institute International Board of Directors for eight years. He has been a DRI International instructor for 15 years, has taught over 150 DRI International Courses and served as an adjunct professor teaching business/mission continuity at the University of North Texas.

Rich Smith works in State Law Enforcement and is a certified business continuity planner. He assists  organizations in preparing business continuity plans and provides seminars and training for employees on safety and responding to an emergency. Rich also has served on The Red Cross Disaster Action Team in Oklahoma County for over 10 years. He was a nationally registered emergency medical technician (EMT). Rich has responded to emergencies to include the Oklahoma City Bombing, tornado incidents and hundreds of home, apartment and business fires. Rich’s experiences of helping people when they are in need have given him the desire to help others prepare in advance and avoid the heartache and suffering of those who aren’t prepared. He teaches courses in Business Disaster Preparedness, Government Agency Response to emergencies and family disaster prevention and recovery. Rich is also a certified instructor for the Disaster Recovery Institute International

Jayson is well versed in all ten domains of Information Systems security. He specializes in intrusion detection response, penetration testing and auditing. He also has a working knowledge of major firewalls, vulnerability scanners, intrusion detection systems, their implementation and administration.

He's consulted with the FBI on attempted breaches of networks by criminals where the result was their capture and successful prosecution. He's created and conducted security awareness training for a major Internet bank and created security policies and procedures that are currently in use in several companies.

At the request of the FBI, he was a guest speaker at the INFRAGARD 2004 wireless conference where he presented the current status of the hacking underground. In addition, he's addressed issues concerning wireless security and some solutions to secure it. In June of 2005 and July 2006 he discussed the challenges of educating upper management on the challenges of Information Security at The University of Advancing Technologies Tech Forum.

He serves on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma INFRAGARD (http://www.infragardok.org/) and is a current member of the OSVDB located at http://www.osvdb.org. OSVDB is an independent and open source database created by and for the security community. The goal of the project is to provide accurate, detailed, current, and unbiased technical information on security vulnerabilities.

Jayson also holds the position of A.V.P. of Information Security at a national financial institution.
